About Hypnotherapy

  • What is hypnotherapy? How does it work?

Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses hypnosis, or an induced trance, to treat psychological or physical problems. Hypnosis has been shown to be an effective treatment for a variety of conditions, including anxiety, stress, pain, and addiction.

During hypnotherapy, the therapist will guide the patient into a state of relaxation and focus to help them address certain issues or goals. The therapist may use techniques such as visualisation, breathing exercises, and positive reinforcement to help the patient achieve a state of hypnosis. Once in this state, the therapist will work with the patient to help them overcome their issue or achieve their goal.

Hypnotherapy can access parts of the subconscious that are often difficult to access, so it can be transformative in helping people to change negative patterns of thought and behaviour. In a state of hypnosis, patients are more open to suggestions and can work with the therapist to address the issues that brought them into treatment.

  • How often will I need to have hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy can be an effective treatment for both short-term and long-term problems. The number of sessions needed will vary depending on the individual and the condition being treated. In general, for short-term problems, a few sessions may be enough. For more chronic or complex issues, multiple sessions may be necessary.

About Psychotherapy

  • What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, is a type of psychological treatment that involves talking with a therapist to help address problems or improve mental health. Therapy can be an effective treatment for many mental and emotional issues, such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addictions, smoking, grief, relationship problems, and trauma.

  • How does psychotherapy work?

Psychotherapy usually involves meeting with a therapist on a regular basis, either in person or online. During sessions, the therapist will help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. They may also give you tools and techniques to help you manage your symptoms. Therapy can be short-term or long-term, depending on your specific troubles or needs.

  • What is the difference between psychotherapy and counselling?

The main difference between psychotherapy and counselling is that psychotherapy is a more comprehensive treatment that looks at all aspects of a person’s life, whereas counselling tends to focus on a specific problem or issue.

Counselling is often shorter in duration than psychotherapy, and the therapist may not delve as deeply into the individual’s past. Counselling can be an effective treatment for many people, but it is not suitable for everyone.

  • How often will I need psychotherapy sessions?

The frequency of therapy sessions can vary depending on the severity of your symptoms and your goals for treatment. In general, most people see a therapist once or twice a week for several months. Some people may only need a few sessions, while others may need ongoing treatment to manage their symptoms more effectively.
